CELEBRATING FATHERS

Psalm 103:13 KJV

[13] Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

Father’s Day is a time set aside to honor and appreciate fathers and father figure in our lives and their influence. The third Sunday in June has been set aside every year for this celebration. Fathers give so much sacrifice but are not usually appreciated the way they should. Honoring our fathers is a command with promise. A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society. In view of this I choose to celebrate fathers, physical and spiritual in this write up. A father’s quality reflects God’s character. I want us to look at the qualities of great fathers.

-A great father knows he must sacrifice his own comfort for his fatherly duties.

-A father’s love can be tough but he means well.

-A great father knows that mistake is part of learning but refuses constant mistakes that is a sign of irresponsibility

-A great father teaches by example. Making himself a person to emulate. Not do as I say not do as I do.

-Great fathers use positive words rather than negative and fists. Words are powerful. Those words echo even when they are long gone. They don’t tell their children they can’t do anything, instead they say they can do it if they try harder.

-A great father emphasizes his Children’s strength rather than their weaknesses

-A great father helps his children to value what they have and not taking anything for granted, honoring and appreciating people. Teaching them contentment by his lifestyle.

-He doesn’t remind his children or let them feel he’s doing them a favor, doing his responsibilities of  feeding them, accommodating them and paying their fees. He is only playing his role as a loving father. Love gives.

-A good father illustrates the importance of affection by demonstrating his love for their mother in front of them not fighting her. In fact the best gift a father can give his children is to love their mother.

-He teaches his children integrity by being a man of his words. Yes is yes.

A father’s tears and fears are unseen, his love is unexpressed but his care and protection remains as a pillar of strength throughout our lives. We celebrate every father. We love and appreciate you.

Shalom
