GIVING
John 3:16 KJV
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Giving means to present voluntarily and without expecting compensation. Giving is a function of stewardship. God owns everything because He is the Creator, Maker and Giver of all things , so when we give, we are merely giving back a portion of what belongs to God. Our God is a giving God. Giving is one of his attributes. People give of their time, talents, and finances, not out of a sense of duty or in anticipation of a promised blessing, but out of a grateful life given by a generous God
Give Sacrificially
Jesus said the widow’s offering in Mk12:41-44 was more, compared to those that gave fat offering because it amounted to all she had. There is a great difference between the contribution of the rich and the commitment of the poor widow. She did not hold back all she had to survive but believed that God will ultimately take care of her every need.
Give Proportionately
This principle reminds one to give in proportion to your prosperity. Ex35:5 shows that people are in sizes and life is in phases as the offerings were classified into three different levels; Gold, silver and brass. We’re expected to give in the class we belong to. Gold to give gold, Silver to give silver and brass to give brass. Don’t give brass when you belong to the class of gold.
Give Cheerfully
The attitude with which we give to God is very important. God loves a cheerful giver. We’re to do everything that we do for God with joy.
We can’t out give God. He gave us His only begotten Son. Be intentional about giving your best in service, finance etc to God this year. The Lord will surely reward you in Jesus name.
Shalom
