MEN PLEASERS

Galatians 1:10 KJV

[10] For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.


The Lord through His servant, Samuel told king Saul to go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not. But Saul didn’t obey the instruction to the letter. He said because he feared the people, and obeyed their voice. People expect so much from us without really knowing our capabilities and God’s plan for our lives. This can bring pressure if you are one that likes to please people. People’s expectations can sometimes be unrealistic and selfish, thereby making you bite more than you can chew. Saul lost the throne. The approval of men is not equal to the approval of God. It’s important to know God’s will, be committed to it and pursue it. Don’t allow people to impose their will on you because you may not have the ability to discern their agenda and you will face the repercussion alone. You can’t meet everybody’s expectations. Men pleasers are mindful of the things of men and not the things of God. Your inability to satisfy men can lead to frustration. Be careful of the praises of men. Ungodly demands of men can trap or complicate a life. The motive for pleasing men must be examined; 

Some people are concerned about what people think about them. 

Some people are driven by fear to please people.

Some people like eye service.

Some people please men because of the benefit they derive. 

Pleasing God must be our priority. Men will not be there when we will give account to God. 2 Timothy 2:4 KJV

[4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

I woke on the 4th of June which was my birthday with a heart of thanksgiving. I honestly have so many reasons to thank God looking at the goodness of God in my life. It was a Sunday and the church celebrated me, coupled with the fact that the day before was our 28th wedding anniversary. So it was double celebration characterized with so much singing and dancing, giving glory to God.  Usually my parents will call early to sing and pray, which was their custom for all their children and grandchildren, but they didn’t call me. DON’T GIVE UP

  Challenges and dificulties are unavoidable. They come whether you are walking in God’s will or not. Sarah, Hannah and Elizabeth had to contend with barrenness. We all have to contend with one challenge or the other at every point in life.  When you are faced with difficult situations, do you give up or walk through? A very good example of a person that persevered is Abraham Lincoln. He failed some many times but he pushed past his failures and eventually became the 16th president of the United States. His name is known till date because he didn’t give up. Life is full of experiences that will make you swim or sink.    Don’t wait to learn to swim when the boat is at verge of capsizing. COUNT IT ALL JOY

  James 1:2-3 KJV - My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Contrary to the normal human mindset, we are instructed to count our trials and temptations as joy. This is kingdom mindset, not the world’s. God’s plan is to use our trials to make us grow and to strengthen us.    This looks impossible to the natural man. That is why the scriptures the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Those trials try our faith and produce patience in you. Faith is built as you hear the word of God, but trials reveal how much faith you have.
