EMPHASIS ON FAITHFULNESS

Matthew 25:23 KJV

[23] His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Faithfulness is the fact or quality of being true to one's word or commitments, as to what one has pledged to do, professes to believe. It comes from a place of trust and loyalty. It is a key ingredient in any relationship whether to God or man. The extent of a man’s faithfulness is pronounced in times of temptation or hardship, when no one is there. David comes to mind when thinking of an example of a faithful man in the Bible. He was faithful to God and to his boss, King Saul. Even those around acknowledged his faithfulness. Ahimelech asked the king in 1Sam 22:14 that who is so faithful among all thy servants as David?

Did he make mistakes? Yes he did but didn’t repeat the same mistake. His level of faithfulness is remarkable.

David served Saul wholeheartedly, yet Saul looked for every way to eliminate him. He knew but still remained faithful. It’s not what people do to us that determines whether we remain faithful or shift grounds. He had the opportunity to kill Saul twice. His servants tried to convince him that this is the day that Lord spoke about saying I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand. Is the scripture correct? Yes it is but a faithful man knew more than that. He said the LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD'S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him. His conscience pricked him for cutting a piece of Saul’s garment.

He looked beyond the King. He considered God. What is your consideration in staying faithful? In fact at the second scene, when the other servant too wanted him to kill Saul, he said the Lord himself will smite him or the day will come that he will die. For many of us, there won’t be a second chance for that kind of thing to occur. Opportunity magnifies what is inside of you. What determines your faithfulness to God, your spouse, business partners, neighbors, friends, superiors and your subordinates? Definitely it must not be what they did to you. Faithfulness is the concept of unfailingly remaining loyal to someone or something, and putting that loyalty into consistent practice regardless of extenuating circumstances. God will use people and things to test your faithfulness. It is required in stewardship that a man be faithful. David would have lost the throne had he not been faithful. God sure rewards faithfulness. It may not be appreciated where you are, but make a resolve to remain faithful whatever the circumstance you are faced with.

Shalom

  7. Judging by this post, most spouses are not faithful to their partners. Their faithfulness is determined by the other party actions most of the times. Blow this trumpet on the rooftop. A great truth made known.

  8. Nice piece. Prayer is that our focus should not depart from the ball. May God keep us focused and free us from all distractions that tend to diminish our faith. God bless you.
