WE’RE PRODUCTS OF OUR BACKGROUND

WE’RE PRODUCTS OF OUR BACKGROUND

What did you notice in relationships between your parents, guardians, siblings, friends etc when you were growing up? Maybe anger, possessiveness, fighting, hatred, bitterness, injustice, cheating, fault finding, jealousy, criticism and a whole lot. They are poisons that contaminate relationships and cause resentment. These things register in our subconscious subtly. Your environment has a way of affecting your thoughts and actions. It is garbage in garbage out. There’s a tendency to reproduce those things unconsciously even when you don’t like them, unless you intentionally do something about them. They are like weeds that choke the good seeds planted. You don’t wish them out of your life. You do something about them now not when you get married or get older. Constantly pull them out. Nature abhors vacuum so when you pull them out, you plant what you want to see. It takes effort to work on these things but they can be changed if you are deliberate and consistent.

How do you overcome those things that you don’t like?

-Identify them

-Be determined to work at it and on yourself

-Look for substitute for them. In place of hatred, choose love.

-Renew your mind with the Word of God

-Make positive confession

-Act out what you want. Practice love

-Pray. We can not do anything by our power or might but by the help of God

-Constant appraisal

The list of what to do can continue but if you can start with these, you will make a remarkable progress. Dare to make a difference. You are a light, so keep making positive impact.
