A MERRY HEART

Proverbs 17:22 KJV

[22] A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

We are all designed to function effectively in a good state of mind. However we can’t always have control over things that happen in our lives or the people that come our way. Some things happen to enhance us. Same with the people that we come across, some depletes us, leaving us worse than they met us. Anything that causes heartache crushes the spirit. A broken spirit is a declining physical health that equals emotional illness. Our state of mind finds expression in our health. There is a connection between our emotional health and our physical health. That is why the Bible says a merry heart makes a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart, the spirit is broken. Broken spirit dries up the bone. God told Ezekiel to prophesy to dry bones, so God does not want you to have dry bones while you are alive. Stay away from toxic environment. Diffuse tension and focus on reasons to thank God. Use the word of God as your therapy, by declaring the mind of God over yourself. God wants to hear the voice that make merry from us. Merry is to be cheerful, high spirited, bubbly, joyful, happy, glad, laughing. We hear people say laughter is the best medicine. This originated from the Bible. With all the events going on in our world right now, we need a dose of that medicine. Joy is meant to be a vital part of our lives. The Bible says with joy we draw water from the well of salvation. Joy is important to us and to God. Laughter has profound psychological and physiological benefits. Laughter, humor, and happiness play a key role in good health and longevity. Some hospitals have humor therapy. However it is not only in the hospital that one can enjoy humor therapy. Start yours where you are. Laughter is a powerful form of stress relief. It is our form of communication not a reaction. It is good for us and those around us. Resist anything that tries to steal your joy. The joy of the Lord will always be our strength. Our joy will be full in Jesus name.

Shalom
