HOME BUILDING - A PRIORITY

HOME BUILDING - A PRIORITY  Our nation and churches are made up of families -nation/church is a composite of 'homes'. If the homes are out of order, then the nation/church that is the collective group of those homes is also going to be out of order. A nation/church can never be stronger than the families that comprise it. There is need for us to pay keen attention on our families. This world will be a better place if we choose to truthfully and lovingly attend to issues in our families. That way we will produce good seeds that will go out there and illuminate their world. Excuses for not performing our primary assignment within our families should be addressed as a matter of urgency. Solomon understood this when he was planning for a project. He drafted three times the number of workers needed for the Temple project and then arranged their schedules so they didn't have to be away from home for long periods. The home/families need great attention. He sent 10,000 men in shift...

COMMUNICATION IN RELATIONSHIP

COMMUNICATION IN RELATIONSHIP  Communication is successful conveying or sharing of ideas and feelings. Communication goes beyond talking, it includes listening, validating the other person, affirming and complimenting. Communication can be verbal or non verbal. Lack of communication in a relationship is a sign of deeper things which affects intimacy. To avoid trouble, some people opt for the silent treatment which result to outburst that causes more problem. This may be because there has not been much result in past dialogues. No single rain drop is responsible for a flood. Communication breakdown in a relationship breaks it if not properly addressed or handled. We’re made to communicate. To have effective communication, the following must be considered; -Be honest with what you are saying.  -Don’t try to read the mind of the other person or prove a point. -Listen. Don’t try to be defensive. -Try to understand what is communicated. If possible ask questions to clarify  -B...

SUPPORT IN RELATIONSHIP

SUPPORT IN RELATIONSHIP   Support is a very critical issue in any relationship. In organizations, there are deputies who assist the main person assigned to lead the unit or team. There is a reason for this. It is a back up system to help the assignment remain functional. To support a person, you must be willing and align with the vision/plan to achieve the same objective. You can’t operate in a team without agreeing to do so. In a fellowship, the fellows are in the same ship, going towards the same direction. You can’t be going to the east and board a plane going to the west.  WHAT IS SUPPORT? Support is bearing all or part of the weight of; hold up; give assistance; enable to function or act. Having support is not a sign of weakness. God recognizes the importance of support that was why He said it is not good for a man to be alone. Support does not mean you abdicate your role or responsibilities to someone else. It only means you both work together, everyone playing his part,...

TRUST IN RELATIONSHIPS

TRUST IN RELATIONSHIPS Trust is an essential factor for any relationship to thrive. What is Trust? Trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone. It is the acceptance of the truth of a statement without evidence or statement.  No good relationship can be in place without trust. There can’t be lack of trust without evidences of betrayal. A robust relationship is one in which the other person respects you and can be trusted and vice versa. Trusting each other in a relationship does not indicate perfection because we’re human. It is giving the other person room to express who they are. People bring into relationship what they have in their background, what they saw growing up. When people keep believing you when they shouldn’t, based on repeated happenings, and you take them for granted, the relationship will be grounded, it’s only a matter of time. Don’t wait until the relationship ends or things get out of hand before you make amends. ...

AGREEMENT IN RELATIONSHIP

AGREEMENT IN RELATIONSHIP   Looking at last week’s topic of companionship, a scripture came to my mind Amos 3:3 KJV [3] Can two walk together, except they be agreed? This is the foundation for companionship. Two people can not walk together without agreeing to do so. There must be a common ground and a point of attraction in every relationship. Two are better than one if they are of the same kind. Their multiplier effect is felt more. You must identify your kind. A prey should not consider walking with its predator because it’s destiny will be choked or truncated sooner or later.   What is agreement? Agreement is harmony or accordance in opinion or feeling. it can also be defined as the act of coming to a mutual decision, position or arrangement. It is the situation in which people have the same opinion, or in which they approve of or accept something. For two to walk together in the journey of life, there has to be agreement on certain issues that will m...

COMPANIONSHIP

COMPANIONSHIP  We read in the Bible how God created man and saw that it was not good for man to be alone. Hence He made a helpmeet of a woman for the man. One of the reasons God made Eve a helpmeet for the man Adam was for companionship. I looked up the word companionship in the dictionary. It says, a person or animal with  -WHOM ONE SPENDS A LOT OF TIME.  -A PERSON WHO SHARES THE EXPERIENCE OF ANOTHER, ESPECIALLY WHEN THINGS ARE UNPLEASANT OR UNWELCOME.  -ONE OF A PAIR INTENDED TO COMPLEMENT OR MATCH EACH OTHER.  Companionship can be found in a friend irrespective of the sex once you know your limit, but not all friends fit into the definition of companion. It's not every friend you spend time with or share experience with. Every marriage however must fit into these definitions. That is why you see that marriage involves some processes that friendship does not require. Spending time is commitment. Sharing experience is love. Matching each other is co...

OVERCOMING FEAR

OVERCOMING FEAR Fear is a trick of the enemy to keep you oppressed, suppressed and depressed. You are probably afraid because of what you have seen or heard, something you believe you can’t handle. Have you ever asked yourself, why am I afraid? Assuming you have a project to deliver    and you don’t have the capital to execute it before the dateline, you get apprehensive and lose your sleep because a lifetime opportunity is about to slip off. But when you know a Bank will handle it, you go to sleep because your fear is taken care of. You have a Father who is not only greater than the Bank but owns the whole world (Psalm 24:1) and gives you access to Himself 24/7. He’s always ready to carry your burden if you bring them to Him. So why are you afraid/agitated? The issue with most of us is that we weigh our issues with our strength. We look    at our capacity or capability instead of looking at the capability of God. This reminds me of a story in the Bible in 1Samuel...

TIME TO PRAY

There’s never a time to pray as this. We have been praying and it is obvious that our prayer is working for us. However, we need to intensify our prayer. No wonder Jesus said “men always ought to pray and not to faint.” We can not afford to fold our hands or faint    at a time as this, with the development all over the world. If we faint in the days of adversity, our strength is small.  IF WE DON’T PRAY, WE BECOME A PREY.  If we are willing to pray, there’s a God that is willing to answer. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV [14] If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. In the place of prayer, direction is given, help is secured and transformation takes place. Prayer is giving God permission to intervene in the affairs of men. You will agree with me that we need to give God permission to move in our lives ...
